Requirements and limits
Browser
Section titled “Browser”AnnA Chat works in up-to-date browsers on desktop and mobile — Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, among others. Nothing needs to be installed.
The chat needs to store data in the browser to remember your device, the theme and the sound preference. Browsers with local storage blocked will ask for authorization on every visit.
Secure connection
Section titled “Secure connection”Camera, microphone and location only work when the chat is opened through an HTTPS address. When you try to use those features over a plain connection, the chat itself reports that a secure connection is required.
Permissions requested
Section titled “Permissions requested”| Permission | When it is requested |
|---|---|
| Camera | When using Camera in the attachment menu. |
| Microphone | When using Record audio. |
| Location | When using Location in the attachment menu. |
Refusing a permission does not block the chat; only that feature stops working until you allow it in the browser settings.
Limits defined by the company
Section titled “Limits defined by the company”These vary per environment and are set by whoever administers the platform:
- Maximum file size for uploads.
- Access link validity.
- Availability of maps and location.
- Themes, icon and name shown in the chat.
- Notification sound and whether it starts on or off.
- How much history is loaded at once.
When something is rejected because of one of these limits, the way forward is to contact the support of the company that provided the chat.
Inside another website
Section titled “Inside another website”When the chat appears embedded in a page, it runs inside a frame on that site. The behavior is the same, with one difference: the address is generated by the system hosting the page. Technical details are in Embedding AnnA Chat.
